Originally established in 1991 the firm really appeared in its current form in 1997 when we merged with the taxation practice of Leon Colley. Although now retired, Leon brought his experience as an ex-Revenue officer to meld with James’s technical accounting background. It became clear that our particular strength came from combining a considerable knowledge of the technical and legal requirements and taxation, with the practical ability to relate these to the needs and real life options facing small businesses and individuals as they attempt to make their way through the bureaucratic night mare that tax and accounting compliance has become.
We are a firm of Chartered Accountants, which means not just that James Bell the majority shareholder in the company is a qualified Chartered Accountant (since 1976 in fact), but that we must comply with the requirements of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales to ensure that we keep up to date with all the new laws and regulations, and that we must maintain high levels of professional integrity. It also means that we must maintain equally high levels of Professional Indemnity Insurance, and that if all else fails there is a professional body to complain to who can (and will) hold us to account. In short our clients can feel truly confident that their affairs are in very safe hands indeed.
